Pattaya Beach: Location, Things to Do & Nearby Attractions

5 activitiesPattaya, Thailand

Pattaya Beach is the central, 2.7-kilometer stretch of sand running along Beach Road in the heart of the city. It's the most convenient beach in Pattaya — calm, shallow water; sun loungers in neat rows; and every major restaurant, bar, and shop within walking distance.

Unlike more remote beaches in the region, Pattaya Beach was built around tourism from the ground up, so the infrastructure here is dense and easy to navigate. Beach Road runs the full length of the sand, lined with hotels ranging from budget guesthouses to international chains, along with hundreds of restaurants, massage shops, convenience stores, and travel agencies. Vendors move constantly along the sand selling grilled seafood, fresh fruit, and cold drinks, and the string of beach bars means there's rarely a quiet moment from mid-morning through late night.

The beach itself is divided informally into sections. The southern end, near Pattaya Tai (South Pattaya), tends to be busier and closer to nightlife venues, while the northern end near Pattaya Klang and the Dolphin Roundabout is slightly calmer and better for sunset viewing. Sand quality and water clarity are consistent throughout, though neither is the best in the region — most visitors trade off some clarity for unmatched convenience and energy.
